A mesmerizing jazz journey that explores new frontiers while honoring Wayne Shorter's legacy. Since their 2015 Wayne Shorter tribute, the band has evolved their approach, merging downtown New York's '80s and '90s creative scene with John Zorn's Masada influences. This album, split evenly between Lovano and Douglas compositions, features pianist Lawrence Fields, bassist Linda May Han Oh, and drummer Joey Baron. The music spans hard-swinging post-bop and avant-garde free improvisation, reminiscent of the classic Booker Little/Eric Dolphy group. "Other Worlds" takes you on an interstellar voyage of harmonically open-ended, probing, and bluesy intensity.
