Liethis Hechavarria is an acclaimed dancer, choreographer, and instructor with 30+ years of experience in Afro-Cuban and diaspora dance. She continues to work as a principal dancer with Oyu Oro Afro-Cuban Dance Ensemble (@oyuoronyc on Instagram), and her work has been featured on PBS’s Bare Feet, ABC News, and stages like Jacob’s Pillow and DanceAfrica. Certified in yoga and travel hosting, she uses dance to inspire and empower globally.
Her knowledge of rumba dance runs deep and Kikiriki Biquey is honored to have her as part of her twice a month rumba gathering at Loove Annex, adjacent to McCarren Park at 238 N 12 St in Brooklyn. The workshop is free and participants are encouraged to stay and participate in the open rumba!
These sessions are dedicated to creating an opening and inviting space for musicians and dances of all levels to participate. No judgement or bad vibes, just rumba! RSVP to @adam_bperc on Instagram to lock in your place!
