Anna Webber's "Idiom" is the sequel to her highly acclaimed "Clockwise" album, lauded by the Wall Street Journal and NPR. It's a collection of rigorously composed pieces that explore woodwind extended techniques, incorporating elements like multiphonics, key clicks, and overblown notes from her improvisational vocabulary. The album consists of two volumes, with the first four pieces featuring her Simple Trio. "Idiom VI" is an hour-long masterpiece performed by a twelve-piece ensemble, blending improvisation and new music. Webber's work presents a unique fusion of composition and improvisation.
