Ascenseur Pour Lechafaud [Import] LP (Jazz Wax Records)
During Miles Davis' November 1957 performance at Club Saint-Germain in Paris, he was introduced to film director Louis Malle through Juliette Greco. Following a private screening of Malle's film "Ascenseur Pour L’Echafaud," Davis brought his ensemble to the studio. They created music through improvisation, guided by harmonic concepts while viewing film excerpts. This session produced the film's soundtrack. Initially issued on a 10" record by Fontana, it occupied one side of the "Jazz Track" album (Columbia CL1268) in the United States. Later, it was re-released on CD by Fontana/Polygram in 1988, including previously unreleased alternate tracks.
